John H. (Jack) Dunphy, Q.C. 403.750.1111 dunphyj@dbblaw.com John (Jack) Dunphy is a retired partner and founding member of Dunphy Best Blocksom LLP. Jack's practice focused on business law. Throughout his extensive career, he has represented clients in a wide variety of business contexts including corporate, commercial, banking, financing, leasing, mortgages, real estate, wills and estate planning and administration. Jack received his appointment as Queen's Counsel in 1990. Jack received his law degree from the University of British Columbia in 1966 and a BA from the University of Alberta in 1963. He has been a frequent panelist and lecturer for the Legal Education Society of Alberta, and the Law Society Bar Admission and University of Calgary Continuing Legal Education Programs. Jack is a past member of the board of directors of the Canadian Bar Insurance Association. He is on The Canadian Bar Association Council, Alberta Branch. He is past-president and executive member of the Canadian Bar Association of Alberta and the Real Property Section of the Canadian Bar Association's Alberta Branch. He is a member of the Law Society Registries Liaison Committee and Past Chairman of Western Law Societies Torrens Committee. Jack has been a long time, active volunteer on the boards of community, sports and charitable associations and the University of Calgary Senate. A keen outdoorsman, skier, hunter, fisherman and climber, Jack acted as Alpine Chairman for Team Panorama Ski Club and as a director of the Canadian Ski Patrol. |
